We know the value of the Web as a communication medium, so this is our emphasis — communication, not "flash." That's reflected in the sites we design... uncluttered, accessible sites with inviting design and intuitive navigation, where content is the featured attraction. Unlike a fine wine, a Web site does not improve with age. If you're not keeping your content fresh, you're wasting an important communication opportunity. We offer reasonable rates for site maintenance. In most cases, we can update your Web site in just minutes, so most changes do not cost very much at all. We feel strongly that keeping a Web site up to date is as important as the initial effort to design it. So, we offer free Web hosting with a monthly minimum retainer of one hour of site maintenance included.

We also know that some clients prefer to update their Web sites themselves. We can set up your site with an easy-to-use Content Management System ("CMS"). Among the options for site maintenance, we think our system provides the best balance between cost and ease of use, particularly when updating responsibility is in the hands of only one or two people.

Our CMS uses a word processor-like user interface that makes Web site editing easy, without the need to learn HTML programming. We can add the CMS when we design your site ... or we can retrofit it to your existing site. However, if you have a large site, with many authors, or if we're doing a ground-up site design, we might recommend a more sophisticated content management system, like Drupal or Wordpress.

How you plan to maintain your site is something we'll want to discuss before we start working on the design.

Your place or ours? If you've got a Web hosting service you're satisfied with, we'll be happy to work with it. However, if you don't already have a host or you're looking for a new place to host your site, we can recommend one that is reliable, reasonably priced, provides good service, and has the flexibility to handle your site as it expands. It's the service that hosts this Web site and those of many of our clients. Hosting is free with a monthly maintenance agreement.

The conventional wisdom is that Web sites should not contain much text. We think that's a bit simplistic. If your Web content is concise and properly written and displayed, visitors will read it; if the content is kept up to date, they'll return frequently. (Using display techniques like this "accordion" device can help you include a lot of text without making your screen look too dense.)

We can help you write original content for your site or we can repurpose existing content that you might be using in printed documents.

HTML newsletters, with rich graphic appeal, delivered by Email, are a great way to build customer interest and loyalty. They help create return traffic for your Web site (even more reason to keep it up to date!). We can design regular or "one-off" electronic newsletters, manage your mailing lists and provide feedback on how many people viewed your message. The cost can be a lot less than printing, maintaining inventory and mailing brochures. In fact, the more you mail, the lower the per item cost.

A coordinated approach to all your identity materials can amplify the effectiveness of your communication.
